Research Costs

Undertaking this type of research is expensive, requiring specialist equipment, consumables and expert research staff.  The Cancer Vaccine Institute (CVI) needs to raise at least £600,000 each year to fund its pioneering work.

Your support could really help us to fight cancer with vaccines.

Here are some examples of costs involved:

£10         will pay for enough freezing vials to freeze down vaccine and samples for one patient

£20         will pay for tissue culture flasks for preparation of one vaccine.

£70         is the approximate cost of funding vaccine research for one hour

£100       will buy the solutions needed for separation of cells to make one vaccine

£250       covers the cost of two days’ work by a post-doctoral research assistant

£500       will pay for half a leukapheresis (for taking white blood cells from a patient
